Benue State security operatives have rescued nine children kidnapped from Saint John Catholic Church in Ojije, Utonkon community, Ado local government area during a midnight prayer session.

The victims include six girls and three boys.

According to Solomon Iorpev, technical adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia commended the swift intervention by security agencies.

He said the rescued children are now receiving care and support.

Alia emphasised that security is the foundation of development and pledged continued collaboration with federal security agencies, community leaders, traditional institutions, and local vigilante groups.

“Security forces and local vigilante groups will continue to work together to combat kidnapping and prevent future occurrences,” he said.

The governor also urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
