Super Falcons arrive in Abuja, to present WAFCON trophy to Tinubu

The Super Falcons have arrived in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria from Morocco where they won a 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy.

The Super Falcons came from two goals behind to defeat host nation, Morocco 3-2 in the final of the 2024 WAFCON on Saturday.

The Nigerian ladies alongside their coaches and team manager arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja aboard a chattered flight at about 2:26 p.m on Monday.

The Super Falcons were treated to a rousing welcome from fans and government officials, some of whom had waited at the airport for hours to receive the victorious team.

Mohammed idris, the Minister of Information; Hanatu Musawa, Minister of Culture and Tourism and Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister for Women Affairs, were among the government officials that welcomed the team on their arrival.

The Super Falcons are set parade the WAFCON trophy in an open bus across the streets of Abuja enroute to the Presidential Villa where they will be treated to a great reception by President Bola Tinubu.
