Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker has revealed that he is happy to continue his story with Galatasaray.

Osimhen said this on Wednesday night following his arrival in Istanbul, Turkey for medical tests ahead of a €75 million permanent transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray.

The Nigerian international arrived to a rapturous welcome to Turkey with Galatasaray fans who ‘adore’ Osimhen storming the airport in their thousands.

Thousands of supporters also tuned into the Galatasaray YouTube channel, which had been tracking the player’s flight over to Istanbul on a live stream.

With Osimhen scheduled to undergo his medical and sign his contract on Thursday, the 26-year-old granted his first interview ahead of the completion of his permanent transfer from Napoli.

“I’m happy to be here. The story continues and I’m happy to continue with Galatasaray,” Osimhen said at the airport in Istanbul.

“For me, I don’t know the words to use to explain. It feels so great to be back. Look at the crowd, look at the people that are tracking the flight.

“I’m home, this is where I want to be. I’m happy to be here, to come back to where I feel at home for myself, my family and my friends.

“I want to take the opportunity to thank the President of Gala, the vice-President, George Gardi, Okan Buruk, everyone who made sure I came back to my home. I want to say a very big thank you, and also to the fans that have pushed, that wanted me at the club, as much as I want them also.”

Galatasaray on Monday agreed to pay the full €75m fee that had been active in the player’s contract with Napoli earlier this summer.

According to a report by Football Italia, Galatasaray will pay €40m up front and the remaining €35m in instalments by the end of 2026.

Reports say that the Turkish Super Lig club is ready to offer the Nigerian international a three-year contract until the summer of 2028 with the option of another 12 months.

He played a central role in Napoli’s Serie A title win during the 2022–2023 season, scoring 26 goals in 31 league games to emerge as the first-ever African topscorer in the Italian top-flight.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer and the Super Eagles striker went ahead to have a remarkable campaign with the Turkish club.

The 26-year-old scored 37 goals and contributed eight assists in 41 games across all competitions for Galatasaray, helping the club to win the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
