Security operatives have rescued 21 kidnap victims during a coordinated operation in Katsina State.

Nasir Mua’zu, commissioner for internal security and home affairs in Katsina state, disclosed that the rescue followed an intelligence-led mission in Dargaza Hills, Danmusa local government area.

According to Nasir Mua’zu, the operation involved the Army, DSS, police and the community watch corps, targeting the hideout of suspected bandit leader Kamilu Chiroma, also known as Buzaru.

He confirmed that the victims, 16 women, two men and three babies were abducted from Gidan Sarkin Bayero village in Musawa local government area and nearby communities.

In addition, four suspects were arrested and are undergoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Bashir Usman, police public relations officer in Kebbi State, confirmed that bandits attacked security operatives along the Maje border road in Bagudo local government area at about 9:45 p.m. on Friday.

According to Bashir Usman, operatives of the police counter terrorism unit engaged the attackers and forced them to retreat.

He added that although some temporary security structures were damaged, no casualties were recorded.

Umar Mohammed-Hadeija, commissioner of police in Kebbi State, urged residents to desist from moving cattle at night.

He warned that security agencies would take firm action against suspicious movements linked to criminal activities.
