Suspected Islamic State West Africa Province fighters have killed two soldiers during an attack on a Nigerian Army camp in Adamawa State.

The assault reportedly targeted the ‘Garahamojili’ military camp and lasted about 20 minutes.

Security analyst Brant Philip disclosed the development on X, stating that the insurgents overran the facility during the firefight.

According to the report, the attackers set the camp ablaze and destroyed three military vehicles before withdrawing.

The insurgents were also alleged to have carted away weapons and ammunition during the operation.

ISWAP claimed responsibility for the assault, describing it as part of its newly launched “Burn the Camps” offensive.

The attack is believed to be the first time the group has struck a Nigerian Army formation in Adamawa State.

Military authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
