National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned the public to stay vigilant after operatives uncovered illicit drugs concealed in children’s toys and garri.
Femi Babafemi, director of media and advocacy at NDLEA disclosed this on verified X handle on Sunday.
According to him, “Narco-trends: FYI, children’s toys and our popular cassava granules (garri) are not spared in their desperation to conceal and traffic illicit substances.
“Please beware and take a look at how NDLEA officers discovered this.”
Babafemi explained that methamphetamine was hidden inside Hollandia yoghurt packs and MP3 players during recent operations.
He added, “Our operatives uncovered these tactics, showing the increasingly desperate methods traffickers use to move illegal consignments.”
The agency urged parents and the public to carefully inspect food items and toys.
Babafemi said, “We call on everyone to remain alert and report any suspicious items to prevent illegal drugs from circulating.”
Videos shared by NDLEA showed officers removing the concealed substances, providing a visual warning to citizens.
