Gunmen abducted six worshippers during a midnight attack on a celestial church along the Uso–Owo expressway in Owo local government area of Ondo state.
According to Abayomi Jimoh, Ondo police spokesperson in a statement on Wednesday said, “Upon receiving the report, the operatives of the command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups.
“They were immediately mobilised to the scene and commenced coordinated rescue operations.”
Meanwhile, one victim has been rescued and a suspected informant arrested.
According to Jimoh, “Security operations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and the apprehension of all perpetrators involved.”
The spokesperson, therefore, urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and actionable information that may assist ongoing operations.
