Tragedy struck at King’s College, Lagos, on Saturday evening as a 48-year-old teacher, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, was found dead under unclear circumstances inside one of the school’s classrooms.

The incident reportedly occurred after school hours, with staff members making the shocking discovery at around 7:40 p.m.

According to security expert Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development on Sunday via his X handle, Vice Principal Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele alerted the Lagos State Police Command after being informed of the situation.

“Vice Principal Ayodele said he was alerted to the discovery of Mr. Ezekiel Akano’s lifeless body within the school premises at No. 3 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island,” Zagazola reported.

A team of detectives was immediately dispatched to the scene, which was quickly cordoned off for a thorough investigation. Photographs were taken, and a preliminary inspection showed no visible signs of violence on the deceased.

The teacher, a native of Oyo State, was transported to Lagos Island Hospital, Odan, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.

Zagazola added that the body was deposited in the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, in a bid to determine the exact cause of death.

The police have reportedly launched a full investigation into the incident and assured the public that “all necessary measures are being taken” to uncover the circumstances behind the teacher’s sudden death.

Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for comments were unsuccessful, as he neither answered calls nor responded to messages sent to his mobile line.
