Diseye Ukulu, a 36-year-old male cultist from Bayelsa State, has been apprehended Rivers State Police Command.
Diseye was arrested on July 9, 2025, following a joint operation by police officers from the Special Operations and Intelligence Team (SOIT), Hawk Tactical Squad, and Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU), in collaboration with members of the Diobu local vigilante group.
In a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the arrest came after an intelligence-led operation aimed at addressing inter-confraternity rivalries between the D12 and BS secret cult groups, both of which are connected to the notorious Deygbam cult, known for its involvement in recent brutal killings in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt.
Authorities revealed that the suspect’s confession led operatives to the residence of Achionu Solomon Chukwuma, also known as Solex, where they recovered a Scorpion VZ61 submachine gun.
In addition to the submachine gun, police also seized a fabricated English-made Beretta pistol. Officials stated, “This firearm is believed to have been used in various criminal activities, and its recovery will assist in the investigation and prosecution of the suspects.”
“The police also found 20 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition and two rounds of 9mm live ammunition. A pair of screwdrivers (sunglasses) was also recovered from the suspect’s residence,” she said.
She further said the suspect and exhibits are currently in police custody, and a thorough and discreet investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to apprehend other members of the cult group.
