Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, made history on Sunday by overpowering Mali 78-64 to win their fifth consecutive AfroBasket championship title.
“Mali demonstrated their determination to end Nigeria’s winning streak, drawing the first blood by winning the first quarter 26-21.”
“D’Tigress dug deeper into their technical books of tricks to rally back in the second quarter with a 20-15 win.”
It was all Nigeria from that point, as they maintained the momentum with another 20-15 third quarter win, cementing their grip on the game.
“With their eyes on the prize, the Nigerian girls wrapped up the game with a 17-8 win against their West African neighbours.”
