The federal government has slammed a fresh 12-count charge against Mike Ozekhome, a senior advocate of Nigeria over alleged forgery and a disputed UK property.

The charge, filed before the FCT high court in Abuja, also named Ponfa Useni, also known as Tali Shani, as a co-defendant.

According to the federal ministry of justice, the defendants allegedly forged a Nigerian passport and other documents to support a claim to a property located at No. 79 Randall Avenue, London.

The late Jeremiah Useni, former FCT minister was listed in several counts as a co-conspirator

The prosecution alleged that the defendants conspired in 2020 in Abuja to procure a false Nigerian passport issued in the name “Tali Shani,” purportedly by the Nigerian Immigration Service, to facilitate the property claim.

They were accused of forging the passport between May 2020 and 2021 and later using it as a genuine document.

The government further alleged that Jeremiah Useni falsely presented himself as “Tali Shani,” described as a fictitious person, and executed an irrevocable Power of Attorney in connection with the property.

Ozekhome was accused of aiding the alleged impersonation by jointly executing the Power of Attorney dated May 30, 2020.

The prosecution also alleged that Ozekhome had control of the London property suspected to have been unlawfully obtained, as well as £18,000 believed to be rent proceeds from the property.
