The Ondo police command has arrested 13 suspects in connection with the violent attack on the All Progressives Congress ward congress in Idanre that left two people dead.
The incident occurred on February 18 at Idanre in Ondo State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation ordered by the Adebowale Lawal, Commissioner of Police.
According to him, the attack led to the death of two persons, left three others injured and resulted in destruction of property.
“This prompted the CP to immediately direct an intensive intelligence-driven manhunt to track down all individuals connected to the violence,” Jimoh said.
He added that operatives of the Idanre Division carried out coordinated operations at strategic locations, leading to the arrest of the suspects, who are currently in custody and assisting ongoing investigations.
The command said efforts were ongoing to identify other collaborators and determine the specific roles played by each suspect.
Jimoh also noted that the Commissioner of Police appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his support and operational guidance.
The police warned individuals or groups against acts capable of disrupting public peace, assuring residents that those involved in the attack would be brought to justice.
