The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 17 suspects and seized various illicit substances during coordinated raids in Kano.

The arrests were carried out under a special enforcement drive tagged Operation Ramadan Mubarak.

Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, Kano State Commander of NDLEA, disclosed this in a statement issued by Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari in Kano.

According to Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, the operation was aimed at ensuring a safe and drug-free environment throughout the Ramadan period.

Operatives conducted intelligence-led raids at Race Course, Dan’agundi, Filin Mahaha, Kano Zoological Garden, Farm Centre along Zaria Road and Tashar Rami in Na’ibawa.

The operation led to the arrest of 17 suspects allegedly involved in drug-related activities.

Recovered items included methamphetamine, popularly known as Ice, cannabis sativa, Exol-5, diazepam and rubber solution.

According to Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, the seizures reflect the command’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and curb the distribution of narcotics in the state.

The enforcement aligns with the directive of NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba-Marwa, who called for intensified nationwide operations to promote a drug-free society.

Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal assured residents that the command would sustain the crackdown to guarantee a drug-free Ramadan.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to support the agency’s efforts.
