Victor Osimhen has arrived in Turkey for medical tests ahead of a €75 million permanent transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray.
A report by Football Italia on Monday claimed that Galatasaray had provided a bank letter of credit to guarantee the full payment of Osimhen’s €75m fee to Napoli.
This major step signalled growing confidence on both sides that a deal was imminent, especially after Napoli last week declined a formal €70m bid submitted by Galatasaray for the Nigerian striker.
“Galatasaray have agreed to pay the full €75m fee that had been active in the player’s contract earlier this summer,” Football Italia wrote.
“Galatasaray will pay €40m up front, and the remaining €35m in instalments by the end of 2026.”
After weeks of intense negotiations, Osimhen is very close to officially becoming a new Galatasaray player on a permanent basis.
Galatasaray on Wednesday night confirmed that Osimhen had arrived in Istanbul to conduct a medical and sign the documents to complete his permanent transfer from Napoli, including a message in Italian that read: ‘Solo il Gala’, (‘Only Gala’).
Reports say that the Turkish Super Lig club is ready to offer the Nigerian international a three-year contract until the summer of 2028 with the option of another 12 months.
He played a central role in Napoli’s Serie A title win during the 2022–2023 season, scoring 26 goals in 31 league games to emerge as the first-ever African topscorer in the Italian top-flight.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer and the Super Eagles striker went ahead to have a remarkable campaign with the Turkish club.
The 26-year-old scored 37 goals and contributed eight assists in 41 games across all competitions for Galatasaray, helping the club to win the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
The Super Eagles striker is much loved by Galatasaray fans, hence his decision to rejoin the club on a permanent deal.
