Victor Osimhen has edged closer to completing a €75 million permanent transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray.
A report from Italy on Wednesday claimed that Galatasaray have provided a bank letter of credit to guarantee full payment of Osimhen’s €75m fee to Napoli.
According to the report, this major step signals growing confidence on both sides that a deal is imminent.
Napoli last week declined a formal €70m bid submitted by Galatasaray for the Nigerian striker, according to Fabrizio Romano, Italian transfer analyst.
Romano had disclosed last Friday that the offer was accompanied by supporting bank documentation to guarantee payment.
Despite the financial assurances, Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli president was said to have turned down the offer, maintaining that the club would only accept a minimum of €75m for the forward.
The development came amid continued speculation about Osimhen’s future, with the forward linked to a number of European and Middle Eastern clubs following uncertainty over his contract situation.
Osimhen who played a central role in Napoli’s 2022–2023 Serie A title win, signed a contract extension in December 2023 that reportedly includes a €120 million release clause.
However, his representatives have not publicly confirmed whether the clause is still binding in the current window but as things stand, it appears that the Super Eagles striker will soon join Galatasaray on a permanent deal.
Reports also say that the Turkish Super Lig club is ready to offer the Nigerian international a three-year contract until the summer of 2028 with the option of another 12 months.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer and the Super Eagles striker went ahead to have a remarkable campaign with the Turkish club.
The 26-year-old scored 37 goals and contributed eight assists in 41 games across all competitions for Galatasaray, helping the club to win the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
