Incoming report says two lives were lost and eleven others injured in a fatal road crash on the Ringim-Kano highway, Kano.
In a statement released by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Friday, the accident occurred near the former IGP Farm in Ringim, following a head-on collision between two commercial Volkswagen Golf vehicles with registration numbers KMC 220 KU and ABC 80 ZE.
The FRSC Medical and Rescue team immediately responded to the scene, evacuating the injured and recovering the remains of the deceased. Of the 13 individuals involved—six men, three women, and one female child—two were confirmed dead. The other 10 sustained various degrees of injuries and received prompt medical attention.
The Corps reportedly retrieved a total of ₦2,166,700 in cash during the rescue mission, which belonged to the two deceased individuals and one survivor. The cash was handed over to the appropriate relatives in the presence of the Divisional Traffic Officer of the Ringim Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Kano State.
FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed extended condolences to the bereaved families and commended the quick intervention of emergency responders. He appealed to road users to be vigilant and adhere to traffic rules.
Mohammed reiterated the Corps’ commitment to efficient rescue operations, post-crash medical care, and transparent recovery of personal effects at crash sites.
He also warned motorists to avoid night travel, maintain safe speeds, and ensure vehicles are roadworthy, particularly during the rainy season.
