Nigerian troops of the 21 Armoured Brigade in Bama, Borno State, have reportedly neutralized many Boko Haram terrorists after a failed ambush.
A report by Zagazola Makama, a counter insurgency expert, said the troops thwarted the ambush during a fighting patrol between Kumshe and Banki.
Intelligence sources told Makama that the incident occured in the early hours of Tuesday.
The sources said, “the terrorists detonated Improvised Explosive Device and followed with continuous gun shots but were immediately repelled by the gallant troops.”
The special forces were said to have repelled the attack killing many insurgents with no casualty on the side of the military.
One Hilux van belonging to the troops was, however, destroyed while some soldiers who sustained injuries during the encounter were taken to the Brigade HQ in Bama for medical attention.
