The suspect was said to have reported himself at the Akobo police division after he was informed of Olayinka’s death.

Olayinka, famed on Instagram as @shopwithKhadi for her bag and cloth businesses, on Wednesday, told her friend that she was attending a meeting with an individual at Wetland Hotel in Akobo.

The cloth vendor was however found dead on Thursday — a few hours after the man she was with checked out.

According to Punch, the suspect is in the custody of the state criminal investigation department (SCID) Iyaganku, Ibadan.

A staff of Wetland Hotel disclosed that Olayinka stopped breathing before they arrived at the hospital.

“When we discovered that she was still breathing, we quickly called policemen at Akobo Police Station but unfortunately, she died before getting to the hospital,” the hotel staff said.

“We called the suspect to inform him about the incident. He rushed down to the hotel to present himself to the police.

“He has been arrested and the case has been transferred to the SCID. He is one of our customers here. ”

Adewale Osifeso, the state police spokesperson, said an investigation into Olayinka’s death has commenced.

In a statement, the hotel authorities said they are cooperating with the police in their investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.

“We are fully cooperating with the authorities and we are doing everything we can to assist the police in their efforts to determine the cause of death,” the statement reads.
