In a statement issued on Tuesday, ASP Agabe Kaborlo, the police public relations Officer said the command had taken note of the video showing officers allegedly demanding money from motorists, including drivers with valid tinted glass permits.

According to the statement, the officers involved include ASP Omomefe Akin Geoffrey and others attached to the Old GRA Police Station in Port Harcourt.

A social media activist, identified as Comrade Phils, had earlier raised the alarm, accusing the officers of systematically targeting motorists and demanding cash payments reportedly starting from ₦100,000.

The command said the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has directed their immediate arrest, detention, and a full investigation into the allegations.

It stressed that extortion, abuse of office, and other forms of misconduct would not be tolerated within the command.

The police assured residents that the investigation would be transparent and that any officer found guilty would face disciplinary action in line with the law and the Nigeria Police Act.
