Several passengers cheated death in Lagos on Monday after a ghastly road accident involving a commercial bus and a Toyota Camry on the Third Mainland Bridge left many injured.
According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the commercial bus reportedly somersaulted multiple times after colliding with the Camry shortly before Adekunle Junction, on the inward lane toward Lagos Island.
“A commercial bus and a Toyota Camry were involved in an accident before Adekunle Junction,” the RRS said. “The bus somersaulted several times, leaving many passengers injured,” the statement reads.
Patrol teams and bikers from the RRS were on turned up early to provide initial assistance to the injured, while officers from the Adekunle Police Division also joined the rescue operation.
Emergency service personnel were deployed to the site to support ongoing rescue efforts and to administer further medical attention.
The RRS confirmed that no fatalities occurred in the crash.
“The ill-fated vehicles have been evacuated, and free vehicular movement has been restored on the route,” the statement added.
The exact cause of the accident had not been officially ascertained as of press time.
