President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly removed the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, from office and appointed a replacement.

Sources in the Presidency said Egbetokun was relieved of his duties on Tuesday, with assistant inspector-general of police, Olatunji Disu, named as his successor.

Disu was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and posted to head the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos.

This newspaper reports that Egbetokun’s tenure had earlier been extended by President Tinubu after he reached retirement age in 2024.

More details later.
