The leadership of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its three-day strike over a dispute with Dangote Refinery.

At an ongoing press briefing, the union also cautioned the refinery’s management against reneging on the agreement reached during a marathon meeting held at the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

President of PENGASSAN, Festus Osifo, who announced the suspension, warned that the union would not hesitate to respond if the company failed to honour the deal.

“If the company reneged on its agreement, the union would not take it lightly,” Osifo stated.

The standoff between PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery stemmed from the unionisation of some refinery employees, a development that triggered tensions between both parties.
