The Federal Government (FG) through the Federal Ministry of Education has launched the EDUREVAMP Communities of Practice (CoPs), a bold step to transform teaching in Nigeria.

The project, according to a statement by the Federal Ministry of Education, is also to empower teachers with digital skills, and boost collaboration across Nigerian schools.

Suwaiba Said Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, speaking at the event said: “CoPs pave the way for the upcoming EDUREVAMP digital platform, a system to train, reward, and digitally empower teachers. This is a milestone in transforming education.”

Ahmad also took to her official X account to express her excitement about the program, writing: “Today, I was thrilled to welcome guests and participants to the official launch of the EDU REVAMP Communities of Practice (CoPs) and the commencement of training workshop for 80 carefully selected teachers and Federal Ministry of Education staff.

“The workshop’s theme, “Revamping Education through Collaboration, Innovation, and Practice,” captured what these CoPs are all about.

“They aren’t just groups; they are communities for sharing knowledge and supporting teachers’ growth.

As a former teacher and Professor of Science Education, Ahmad said she knows the challenges teachers face, adding that she believes in the power of strong professional communities.

These CoPs, according to her, are created to help share expertise and make the most of resources to benefit both teachers and students.

The minister said she congratulated the participants as the pioneers of this new approach chosen for their passion, teamwork, and readiness to lead.

Ahmad explained that their role is not just to learn but to lead, taking the knowledge gained back to classrooms and inspire others.

The launch event featured Mrs. Zainab Abubakar Suleiman, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Director and Prof. Tajuddeen Mustapha, who emphasized connected Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning.

Mustapha, while addressing the audience said that Nigeria is ready for a collaborative, innovative, and tech-driven education future.
