The Niger State Police command has confirmed the death of a male guest who collapsed inside one of the lodges within the Government House premises in Minna.

The deceased, identified by Wasiu Abiodun, the police spokesperson for Niger State, as Gregory Ossai Ozegbe, the CEO of Castle HMG Hospitality, had visited Sammy Adigun, chairman of the Niger Food Security Systems and Logistics Company Limited, when the incident occurred.

Ozegbe was project consultant to the Niger State Government on Minna Hilton hotel project.

“He was said to have suddenly fallen ill after realising his host was unavailable.”

“Medical personnel from the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, were reportedly contacted, but “the visitor reportedly died before help could arrive.”

In a statement issued on Monday, Abiodun said the incident took place around 9:30 p.m. on August 2 within the Government House premises.

“On the 2nd of August, 2025, at about 9.30pm, a report of suspected sudden death was received from the CSO Govt House, Minna, which indicated that a guest who was identified as Gregory became unconscious in one of the government house lodges,” the statement reads.

“The police operatives attached to GRA Division moved to the scene, and the guest was rushed to IBB specialist hospital Minna, where he was later confirmed dead.”

Abiodun added that “the corpse has been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy to determine the possible cause of death.”
