A dispute over the estate of Adebayo Alao-Akala has brought to light an extensive portfolio of properties linked to the late politician.Â
The revelation follows proceedings at an Oyo State High Court, where Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, his first daughter, is challenging how the estate is being managed.
In a suit marked I/443/2024, Aderinto is seeking the court’s intervention, naming Oluwakemi Alao-Akala, the deceased’s wife, and Olamide Alabi, his daughter, as defendants and executors of the estate.
She told the court that she has both legal and equitable interests in the estate, alleging that some assets have already been sold without her consent, while others are being considered for sale or joint venture arrangements.
The court granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants from carrying out further transactions pending the determination of the case and ordered an accelerated hearing.
Aderinto is also requesting DNA tests involving herself and six others—Olamide, Adebukola, Olamipo, Olamiju, Tabitha, and Olamikunle—to establish biological relationships with the deceased.
She further asked for the exhumation of her father’s remains to facilitate the tests.
The matter has been adjourned to April 16, 2026, for ruling on the application.
Alao-Akala, who died on January 12, 2022, at the age of 71 in Ogbomoso, has since been at the centre of a prolonged dispute over the distribution of his estate.
