The All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as the party’s new National Chairman.

The APC confirmed Yilwatda’s appointment in a post on its official X account following the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday.

“Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda has been elected as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 14th meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party,” the post read.

Yilwatda replaces Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State who resigned as the APC National Chairman earlier this month.

Until Thursday, Professor Yilwatda was the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

The 56-year-old engineer, politician and academic from Plateau State was appointed as minister by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.

Nentawe was the flagrunner for the APC during the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Plateau State.

Between July 2017 and December 2021, he held the position of resident electoral commissioner in Benue State.

Also, he was the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) director at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State for 12 years.
