An accountant, Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu, and his company, Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, have been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing ₦200 million belonging to Travelstar Web Logistics Limited.
Nkwachukwu was arraigned before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on Monday, on a 13-count charge bordering on stealing.
According to the EFCC, the defendant, while serving as an accountant for Travelstar Web Logistics, allegedly diverted company funds, including $36,000 and $156,000, for his personal use. The offences contravene Sections 280(1)(b), 280(2)(f), and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
When the charges were read, Nkwachukwu pleaded “not guilty.”
Prosecuting counsel, A.A. Usman, requested a trial date and urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility. However, defence counsel, Kelvin C. Uzozie, pleaded that his client be kept in EFCC custody pending the determination of his bail application.
After hearing both sides, Justice Oshodi ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter till October 17, 2025, for the hearing of the bail application.
