The Presidency has denied reports that President Bola Tinubu has sacked or directed the group chief executive officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Bayo Ojulari to resign.

A report by an online newspaper on Saturday had alleged that Ojulari was detained on Friday and coerced into signing a resignation letter by the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, and the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Adeola Ajayi.

However, in a message to The Witness, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, dismissed the report as false and unfounded.

Ojulari was appointed by President Tinubu as the chief executive of the national oil company in April 2025.
