Lagos LG Polls: PDP urges INEC to Investigate LASIEC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for alleged electoral fraud during the local government elections on July 12, 2025.

PDP Chairman Adegboyega Adegbesan described the election as a sham, claiming that APC thugs invaded polling units, snatched ballot boxes, and assaulted voters while LASIEC officials either ignored or supported these actions. He alleged widespread ballot stuffing and rigged result sheets designed to manipulate the election outcome.

“What transpired was not an election but a coordinated attack on the will of the people,” Adegbesan said. He emphasised that the process was undermined by harassment of PDP agents and delays in distributing election materials to suppress voter turnout.

Adegbesan called LASIEC a compromised entity that has betrayed the trust of the people of Lagos State, stating that its officials participated in the sabotage of the electoral process. He pledged to challenge the fraudulent election results through legal channels.
