Kurt Zouma will appear in court next month after being prosecuted by the RSPCA for slapping and kicking his pet cats.
Zouma and his brother Yoan, who plays for National League club Dagenham & Redbridge, are being prosecuted under the Animal Welfare Act.
The West Ham defender was filmed by his brother slapping and kicking his own cats in a video that was widely shared on social media. The 27-year-old’s pets were taken away and remain in care.
The court date is just six days after this season’s Europa League final.
West Ham face German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-final, with the first leg taking place at the London Stadium on Thursday.
