Chief John Oyegun, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential screening committee has confirmed that Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria’s former president, was not screened by the committee to run for president in 2023.
There have speculations that Jonathan, form whom a Fulani group bought the APC presidential nomination forms, may have been secretly screened by the Oyegun led seven-man screening panel.
But speaking to journalists after submitting the report of the committee at the party’s secretariat on Friday, Oyegun declared that his committee never attended to the former president.
“No, no, I can confirm we did not screen him,” Oyegun said.
Meanwhile, the committee screened out 10 out of the 23 presidential aspirants who went through the screening process.
