Unity Bank partners Avant-Garde for the 2019 sustainability table discourse series

As part of its commitment to promote the drive for sustainable development initiatives in Nigeria, Unity Bank hosted the Sustainability Discourse Series in collaboration with Avant-Garde Innovation & Technology Services (AGITS) which took place at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos on Wednesday, 13 th November, 2019.

The Sustainability Table Discourse Series is a platform that offers an avenue of opportunities to learn and share ideas/initiatives on strategies for achieving the sustainability development goals.

Unity Bank has been very active in promoting sustainable practices in Agriculture and the sponsorship of the summit was an opportunity to strongly reinforce the Bank’s sustainable development initiatives.

The event provided a platform for the convergence of policy makers, entrepreneurs, sustainable development experts, leading corporate organisations and various subject matter experts to discuss and solve pressing world challenges facing selected industries as it relates to the environment, climate change, sustainability and the quest for a green economy.

Unity Bank executive director, Risk Management & Compliance, Usman Abdulqadir gave a keynote address on factors affecting climate change and sustainable development and the effectiveness of Unity Bank's response in various spheres such as food security, climate action, gender equality and sustainable job creation.

There were various panelists’ discussions in line with the sustainability discourse in addition to the Speech on Green economy and expectations in the Nigerian scenario by Dr Lawrence Chidi Anukam, Director General – National Environmental Standards and Regulations Agency.

Other Unity bank representatives at the Summit were TA, MD/CEO/Ag. Head, Corporate Planning & Strategy, Ibukun Coker and Head, Tax Management & Compliance Temitope Arasi.

As a title sponsor, the Bank had strong brand presence.
