Jimoh Babafemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has boasted that Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the party will record a landslide victory, judging by his accomplishments and leadership capacity.
Babafemi who said this during a chat with journalists at the weekend in Lagos, noted that the massive support being enjoyed by the party was a pointer to its victory in the 2023 general election.
The presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu, he noted had a track record of unprecedented accomplishments during his days as the Lagos State governor to show for his bid to succeed the President Muhamadu Buhari, stating that Tinubu was the most acceptable among the presidential candidates for 2023, having built bridges across the country’s geo-political zones as well as building people.
“Tinubu has built an empire out of many Nigerians who crossed paths with him ever since his foray into public office and these accomplishments would count for him in 2023.
“He has paid his dues as a democrat and leader. Tinubu is running against Tinubu because these Nigerians and many others who believe in his vision for a better Nigeria, are today mostly his foot soldiers, campaigning for him across the federation,” Babafemi said.
He lamented that all presidential aspirants and their supporters that contested and lost the party’s ticket to Bola Tinubu had gone cold except those that campaigned for the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and his supporters.
He listed the Lawan supporters to include the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Senator Sani Musa, Senator Jubril Barau, and Femi Fani-Kayode among others.
Babafemi expressed his displeasure over the attitudes of some party chieftains who he said are still not happy with Tinubu’s emergence at the presidential primary and commended Lawan and the group for their efforts in campaigning and mobilising for Tinubu.
“They are working hard for Tinubu and the APC like they are doing it for Lawan. These people are patriotic chieftains of the APC. Others have suddenly gone cold after losing the primary. They are non-committal to the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The current Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on national television even refused to openly endorse Tinubu. We have not heard from Amaechi’s people, Osinbajo’s team and so many others.
“They suddenly went cold without doing much. I sincerely commend distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan and his group for showing and proving to be solid party chieftains by spearheading the campaign of Bola Ahmed Tinubu across Nigeria,” he said.
