Tunde Rahman, media aide to Bola Tinubu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and presidential hopeful, has clarified that his principal was absent at the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting because he is not a member of the organ of the party.
The ruling party’s NEC had met on Wednesday in Abuja to take major decisions ahead of the 2023 general elections.
THE WITNESS had reported that while President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, among others were present at the meeting, Tinubu, who is often regarded as the national leader of the party was absent considering that his position is not a constitutional one.
Speaking to PUNCH, Rahman said the APC constitution does not grant Tinubu permission to attend the meeting.
“Asíwájú is not a member of NEC. He is a member of the National Caucus. Members of NEC are the President, VP, Senate President, Speaker, State chairmen of the party and members of the national executives of the party,” he said.
