Terrorists have released a video of the abducted daughters of the immediate Abubakar Bala-Furfuri former Accountant General of Zamfara State, threatening to turn them into criminals if their parents fail to pay the ransom they demanded.
In the now-viral video, the girls namely Zulaihat and Zainab, and an unnamed domestic staff who have spent 128 days in captivity were coerced to display arms and ammunition.
In the video clip, the three ladies were seen clutching anti-aircraft guns, AK 47, LMG, and other firearms.
The WITNESS recalls that the girls were abducted about three months ago in Furfuri village, Bungudu Local Government Area (LGAs) of Zamfara State. The town is roughly 7 kilometers from Gusau, the state capital.
Since 2010, gangs of bandits have run riot in vast swaths of northern Nigeria, but only in the last few years has the crisis ballooned into national prominence in Africa’s most populous country.
The term “bandits” is a catchall for the criminal gangs masterminding frequent bouts of abduction, maiming, sexual violence and killings of citizens across northern parts of the country.
