The attention of the management of The Witness Newspapers, as been drawn to a publication circulating in the digital space alleging money laundering and other sundry offences against the management of Wema Bank Plc by a news platform, Naijatell.com. The said story was allegedly attributed to The Witness.
We hereby dissociate The Witness from the said report, whether directly or by proxy, as the newspaper has no subsisting issues with Wema Bank.
We believe the authors of this report may have extracted portions of our earlier report on the same subject matter which was found to be materially inaccurate.
The present recourse to build and circulate inaccurate allegations against a going concern using our name and pedigree is most unfortunate and untenable to us.
The authors of the said publication did not seek nor obtain our permission before using our name to build and confer legitimacy on their cocktail of allegations.
The Witness is a credible Nigerian newspaper in digital and print formats, with the mission of bringing its readers accurate and reliable information without bias, about happenings within the nation and abroad.
