Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senate minority leader, on Tuesday, picked the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abia State ahead of the state’s governorship election.
Abaribe who currently represents Abia South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, after picking the form at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, promised to be the governor of all Abians.
The vocal senator had in December 2021, declared his intention to run for governor of Abia.
Fielding questions from news men after a grand civic reception in his honour by Nzuko Ahiaba la Abayi in Obingwa and Aba North Local Government Areas, Abaribe had said he had already formerly informed Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of his ambition to succeed him come 2023.
“We respect constituted authority. I believe my future political ambition should be made known to my Governor who is the number one citizen in my state,” he had said.
”So, what I’m telling Ndi Abia is that they should expect Mmagha Ndigbo as their next Governor in 2023.”
His bid, will, however, be problematic given that he is from the same senatorial as the incumbent governor.
Other senatorial zones are currently insisting on power rotation in the state.
