The crisis currently rocking the All Progressive Congress (APC) may be far from over as the President of Senate, Mr. Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, boycotted the Party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
This newspaper gathered that both Saraki and Dogara were noticeably absent at the meeting, even though the Senate adjourned its plenary for the day, citing the NEC meeting as the reason why.
The Speaker, however, stayed back to deliberate over proceedings at plenary while his deputy, Mr. Yusuf Lasun, attended the meeting and was later seen briefing his boss on what was believed to be the outcome of deliberations from the meeting.
Recall that on Monday, Saraki had shunned the national caucus meeting of the party as he chose to attend an event in Benin, the Edo State capital.
These developments give credence to traces of disunity within the party especially as the President Muhammadu Buhari recently commissioned Mr. Bola Tinubu to reconcile all warring factions in the APC.
