Wednesday, March 2nd 2022 marks another milestone in the life of Ronik Polytechnic, Ejigbo-Lagos, when 250 new students took their matriculation oath in line with the academic tradition of admitting freshers into higher institutions.
The event which took place on the sport ground was marked with an array of attendance by the visitor, Mr Chris Alabi, Ronik Board of Trustees, the Polytechnic council, the Management team and the Polytechnic Community.
In his address titled: Make Your Light Shine, the Council Chairman, Engineer Rufus Odunsi charged the matriculating students to guard against the bandwagon effect where peer pressure can make many unwary students to derail from their academic pursuit.
He reminded them of the Polytechnic mantra “No strike, No Cultism” and enjoined them to shun the temptation of “If you cannot beat them join them”. Rather they should say “if you cannot beat them educate them”.
In her own speech, the Rector Mrs. J.O Atoye explained the role of Ronik Polytechnic as a Major training centre for economic development.
She called on the matriculating students to realise their hidden talents and acquire entrepreneurial skills so that they could be job creators instead of being jobs seekers. This will launch Nigeria into her desired stage of techno-economic development and national accomplishments.
The matriculating student exuded joy and enthusiasm in realising their goals to attain higher education. Many of them are proud to be associated with the polytechnic which was awarded the Best Private Polytechnic in West Africa by West Africa Quality Education Awards.
