Members of Nigeria’s house of representatives have dismissed the alleged plot to impeach the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, over consideration and passage of the controversial National Water Resources Bill.
Leader of the Northern Caucus, Musa Sarkin-Ada, raised a point of order at the plenary on Tuesday to dismiss a report that Gbajabiamila was being threatened with impeachment over the bill.
The Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, stated that the House would remain united, while also dismissing the impeachment threats.
The Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, who presided over the session, referred the matter to the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate the allegation, Punch reported.
