Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has been sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The WITNESS gathered that the swearing-in ceremony was held on Wednesday before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Those in attendance during the swearing-in include Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Others at the ceremony are, other Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Bambari and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd).

Also in attendance were ministers who came in to attend the week’s Council meeting, including Hadi Sirika (Aviation); Olorunnimbe Mamora (Science, Technology and Innovation); Chris Ngige (Labour and Employment); Abubakar Malami (Attorney-General and Justice); Niyi Adebayo (Industry, Trade and Investment); Babatunde Fashola (Works and Housing); Abubakar Aliyu, and others.
CJN Ariwoola sends message to politicians
Justice Ariwoola while addressing journalists after the swearing-in ceremony called on politicians in the country to allow the judiciary to function properly as the 2023 elections approach while promising reforms at the apex court.
The Oyo State Governor, Makinde in his statement expressed gratitude on behalf of the people and government of Oyo State to President Buhari.
Ariwoola’s swearing-in is coming days after the Senate confirmed him as the new CJN.
