Tiwa Savage, the award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, has given her dad a befitting burial — a few weeks after he breathed his last.
The musician father’s funeral kickstarted on Thursday with a Christian wake held in the Surulere axis of Lagos state.
In a terse post via her Instagram page, the singer had written: “Day 1 of my daddy’s burial services, tomorrow we give him the best send-off ever. Rest in peace.”

Her father was thereafter buried on Friday at a decorated funeral ceremony graced by friends and family of the singer.
Jamil, Tiwa’s son, was also in attendance as they gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased.
The ‘Koroba’ crooner had in July announced the demise of her father, whose name is Prince Olanrewaju, in a touching social media page.
“Early hours of this morning you made a peaceful transition. You fought till the very end, you really fought daddy,” she had written.
“It’s been rough for you these past couple years but you are resting now. This is tough on me, I’m so numb, so weak. Rest in perfect peace my king. I love you daddy. Savy t’eko, pappin K.”
