Nyesom Wike, Rivers State governor; Okezie Ikpeazu, governor of Abia State and Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, are currently holidaying in Turkey.
Wike had earlier in the week announced that himself and Ikpeazu were in Turkey to have their “much needed rest.”
Apparently, Makinde, a fellow governor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has joined them in the country.
Their trip to Turkey comes amid crisis in the PDP over the decision of Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate to choose Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State governor as his running mate.
The party’s national working committee had recommended Wike for the position, but Atiku opted for Okowa in disregard to the recommendation.
The decision has continued to cause disaffection, with the likes of Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue State and Ayo Fayose, former Ekiti State governor berating the former vice president on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there are uncertainties regarding the future of Wike in the PDP with many suggesting he may abandon the party.
On Thursday, Joe Igbokwe, aide to governor of Lagos State, claimed that the Rivers governor visited Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate in France.
