Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, popularly called ‘K-RAD’ has declared interest in contesting for the Osun State governorship election in 2026 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adegoke, a constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is a policy thinker with over two decades of legal, business and civic experience.
He hails from Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
According to him, his bid for the number public office in the state is hinged on actualizing a better governed state for the benefit of all including unborn generations.
Recall that incumbent governor, Adeleke Ademola of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) will round up his term in 2026. While the governor is yet to formally declare his intention to seek reelection, however, quite a number of interest groups have endorsed him.
“I also use this medium to formally inform this great platform that your dear K. Rad is in the race for the governorship contest in 2026.
“This is the time to actualize our dream of making sure that Osun is better governed to the benefit of ourselves and the unborn generations. It is a duty we owe ourselves and our children.
“I therefore call on all our coordinators to remain firm and resolute in achieving this great task. Let us continue the struggle and the future is assured,” Adegoke’s declaration message reads in part.
Should he win the APC primary, Adegoke will likely slug it out with incumbent Adeleke who may likely declare his interest at taking a second and final shot at the governorship seat.
A notable election petition prosecutor, Adegoke has handled a number of high profile electoral cases including that of two former governors of the state; Gboyega Oyetola (now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy) and Rauf Aregbesola (also a former Minister of Interior). K-Rad was also among the cream select few powerful legal team that successfully defended President Muhammed Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against their political opponents.
