Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice president, on Tuesday stayed away from the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Jos, Plateau State.
While the rally had in attendance President Muhammadu Buhari, Bola Tinubu, party governors, among others, Osinbajo was conspicuously missing.
The rally, according to the APC Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, was to present Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, whom he said gave out his slot to be Buhari’s running mate to Osinbajo in 2015.
It is not immediately clear why the Vice President is not at the campaign rally, but many had a few weeks ago raised concerns over why he is not a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council headed by President Buhari.
It was rumoured that Osinbajo had deliberately distanced himself from Tinubu’s campaign committee for personal reasons.
