Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue State has advised the President Muhammadu Buhari government to end its obsession with the controversial Water Resources Bill and focus attention more on ending insecurity in the country.
Ortom, who has previously opposed the controversial bill that seeks to cede control of water bodies and the adjoining lands to the federal government, took to his twitter account to call on the presidency to focus attention on bills that would end insecurity in the country.
“There are more serious issues bothering Nigerians now than the Water Resources Bill that the Presidency is relentlessly pushing for. Why can’t they initiate bills seeking to end the killing of thousands of Nigerians in their country?” Ortom wondered in a tweet via @GovSamuelOrtom on Wednesday.
“Benue State will continue to strongly reject the obnoxious National Water Resources Bill!”
