The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has debunked reports in some online media that fire gutted its headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
A statement signed by Demianus Ojijeogu, head of public affairs, WAEC Nigeria, and made available to THE WITNESS on Thursday, said there was no fire incident at the council’s headquarters or any of its offices in Nigeria.
According to Ojijeogu: “We hereby categorically state that there was no fire incident at WAEC headquareters or any WAEC offices in nigeria, for that matter.
“The publication is false and it is the handi-work of mischief makers who are out to misinfiorm, mislead and confuse the candidates and members of the general public.
“We wish to reassure all candidates, other stakeholders and members of the general public that all our security materials are safe and intact,”.
Recall, the council recently released the timetable for the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
