The Gospel and Afro-Pop artist recently made history with her nomination in three categories at the recently held Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPA Awards), in the US.
She was specially nominated in the Music in Africa categories alongside other leading musicians from the continent.
In a brief chat with us, Alu who lives in US, but regularly visits home disclosed she was nominated in the Best Independent New Artist, Best Up and Coming Female Artist, Best Oldies but Goodies (Universal/Global), categories, respectively.
“Sincerely, these nominations are a huge plus to my career. In fact, I was overwhelmed when I saw my name among the nominees in three different categories alongside other global music icons. It came to me as a huge shock and surprise. I thank God for the inspiration and equally thank the organisers for honouring me with the nominations,” she gushes.
“It is also a sign that my music is being appreciated all over the world and that will make me work harder as a recording artist”, she added amid smiles.
Aside Alu, some Nollywood and Ghollywood stars were also recognised and rewarded at the event, which held recently amid glitz and glamour.
Multi-talented Alu’s music is inspired by her love for culture, history and experiences in her humble beginnings.
HAPA, which is one of the biggest awards in the US, honours outstanding talents across different genres in music, film, comedy and fashion.
