The Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the establishment of Nigeria’s first University of Public Relations and Leadership (UPRL) by 2026.

The government is confident in its ability to meet all requirements set by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) for the successful launch of the project.

Governor Abdullahi Sule made this statement during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Monday.

He highlighted the significant progress that can be made in the next 18 months, especially in terms of infrastructure and other essential facilities, to facilitate the matriculation of the university’s first set of students by November 2026.

Praising the leadership of NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, Governor Sule expressed his enthusiasm over Nigeria’s successful bid to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) and emphasized the state’s interest in supporting the event.

“I could listen to Dr. Ike Neliaku all day without losing interest. He is a true professional, knowledgeable, and always gets to the point. His content and commitment are unmatched. I enjoy watching his interviews and always feel excited by his insights. I believe he is one of the best Presidents NIPR has ever had,” he remarked.

Earlier, Dr. Ike Neliaku, President of NIPR, explained that the purpose of the visit was to thank the Nasarawa State Government for its unwavering support of the Institute’s key initiatives.

“Your Excellency, NIPR is dedicated to making Nigeria proud, and much of that is due to the support we receive from people like you. Recently, we won the bid to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum. One of the key factors in our success was our focus on the intersection of public relations and leadership, which is embodied in the establishment of this unique sector-based university, an initiative you have graciously agreed to host.”

The establishment of the University of Public Relations and Leadership (UPRL) and the hosting of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) are expected to bring significant global attention to Nigeria.
