Some Nigerians have taken to social media to commend Dr. Adaeze Udensi, the managing director of Titan Trust Bank Limited, for standing by the bank’s Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to ensure they dispense cash, amid ongoing naira scarcity.
Udensi is said to have remained vigilant all week to ensure that there is no breach of process in the bank, with a view to ensuring that Nigerians have access to cash.
Commending her for the effort, a Twitter user, Bolaji Lawal, @Babamoh, said, “The MD of @Titan TrustBank stood by their ATM all week to ensure that their ATM was dispensing cash and did not run out of cash.
“Stories of individual courage and sacrifice like this by Nigerians across the social strata gives me hope about our country. Big up Titan!”
Another user, Tosin Agbede, said, “I’m really impressed by the effort of Titan Trust MD. While some banks are hoarding the new notes with a view to make money while Nigerians suffer, she’s chosen to be patriotic. May God bless her.”
The commendations come as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) continue to bust commercial banks hoarding the new naira notes.
The naira notes paucity, coupled with the scarcity of petrol, has also led to protests in some parts of the country.
The CBN had given a deadline of January 31 for the use of old naira notes but it was recently extended to February 10.
On Wednesday, however, the Supreme Court stopped the government from implementing the ban on old notes on the new deadline of February 10.
Good competitive manager. Whenever there is a chaos such as this in d soceity, actions of managers speak volumes about their core strategic values: scrupulous thieving managers pursue their niche of perdition in profit-taking while managers like Adaeze see a longer-term niche of winning d trust of anguished customers and then go for it with unusual humility in sharing their pains. Really good stuff by Adaeze Udensi of TrustBank.
